The challenging aspect of this book was bringing together a disparate selection of images - from newspaper clippings to scrape book photos, and digital images. To help tie it all together, we commissioned the late photographer, Victoria Proebstel to take all the chapter page images, which were used as bleed off double page spreads where possible, and dispersed throughout as ‘book ends’ to a magazine style layout of chapters. Author Garth Gilmour was a contemporary of Arthur Lidiard and did a superb job of documenting the birth of jogging which originated right here in Auckland.
